The Toyota Prius and Honda Civic Hybrid provide drivers with the efficiency and technology that make a difference in their travels. If you are driving near Ithaca, Elmira, or Binghamton, NY, which hybrid sedan is right for you?

The team at Maguire Toyota prepared a Toyota Prius vs. Honda Civic Hybrid comparison to help you decide. Read below to learn which may be the best fit for your driveway.

Which Hybrid Has the Latest Technology?

The Honda Civic Hybrid was discontinued in 2015. While it is slated for a return, Prius drivers enjoy more convenient technology than Civic Hybrid drivers. What are some examples?

If you peak in the windows of a 2022 Toyota Prius and a 2015 Honda Civic Hybrid, you may not view a USB cord in the front seats of the Prius. Toyota's sedan offers available Qi-wireless smartphone charging. The convenient feature is not available in the most recent model of the Honda Civic Hybrid.

Driving is more fun inside the Toyota Prius. Its available Premium Audio with Integrated Navigation includes:

  • Apple CarPlay®
  • Amazon Alexa compatibility
  • Ten JBL® speakers with amplifier

Neither Amazon Alexa nor Apple CarPlay® are available in the Honda Civic Hybrid. Prius drivers stay connected to their messages, podcasts, and playlists with greater ease inside the Prius than the Civic.

Which Car Is More Efficient?

Is the Toyota Prius or Honda Civic Hybrid more efficient? When comparing the Prius with the Civic Hybrid, we found that the Prius connects drivers with more beneficial fuel economy.

The 2015 Honda Civic Hybrid is powered by a 1.5L i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine with Integrated Motor Assist IMA®. The Hybrid yields an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 44 city/47 highway MPG.

When looking under the hood of the 2022 Toyota Prius L Eco, our team noticed that its 1.8L 4-Cylinder Hybrid engine generates an EPA-estimated MPG rating of 58 city/53 highway MPG.¹

What does this add up to? The Toyota Prius has better fuel economy ratings than the Honda Civic Hybrid. This means you'll find more value in your daily driving with the Prius.

Which Car Is Ready for Winter?

Drivers in Upstate New York are accustomed to winters that fill roadways with snow and ice. All-Wheel Drive (AWD), a drivetrain that supplies power to all four wheels, increases the traction of vehicles traveling on slippery roads.

The Toyota Prius lets drivers get ready for winter with its Electronic On-Demand Compact All-Wheel Drive (AWD-e). The drivetrain is available in the Prius LE AWD-E and Prius XLE AWD-E trims.

The 2015 Honda Civic Hybrid is only available in Front Wheel-Drive. This system only supplies power to the vehicle's front wheels. A lighter drivetrain can create more efficiency. The higher MPG rating of the Toyota Prius, however, gives Prius drivers the option to drive with greater traction and fuel economy.
